Good Morning Hills View! Can you believe it's February? Not only did it get here fast, it's so nice and warm!I am excited about tomorrow, and not just because of the SuperBowl! Tomorrow we celebrate our fifth year in the building that we meet in! Talk about fast - five years! We moved from the Piedmont Senior Citizen Center on SuperBowl Sunday, 2007. (Bonus question: Who was in the game that year?) I am also excited to bring the fourth message in our Character Building series. This week's sermon comes from Nehemiah 4 and 5. It is titled Expect Opposition. (Again in this series especially, it is helpful if you read the scripture for the week ahead of time.)Baby dedication! Tomorrow at the 8:15 a.m. Worship Service the Bordewyks (Jeb and Carol) will dedicate thier son Archer Eastwood Bordewyk to the Lord! It is such a blessing to have families in our church that are dedicated to raising their children in the way they should go! Thank you all for a very good Annual Congregational meeting last weekend and for all those that brought food and/or stayed for the Pot Luck! I am excited about where God is taking us as a body and how everything (Building, Web page, Life Groups, Teaching, etc.) is progressing! All the Elders, Jim Biers, John Elving, Steve Bertsch, and Glenn Bailey were re-affirmed in the annual vote. Congrats! Jesee and Jenny Jensen (Rylan) now have an addition to their beautiful family - Capri Leslie Jensen! Reminder: We are participating in the Soup or Bowl (get it?) until February 26th for the Feed South Dakota Program, so if you can spare a can or packet of soup (or more) please bring and place in the collection can at the back of the church Mission Meeting: There will be another Mission Meeting next Sunday (Feb 12) between the two services (9:30ish). If you have questions please contact David and Roseann Mapa. This past week slowed down a bit for me - at least from the previous! I read this line from a book titled, The Rest of God, by Mark Buchanan a couple of weeks ago. it is so true! He wrote, "Life is meant to be much different -- fuller, richer, deeper, slower -- from what it is." He goes on to say, "You know this. You've always known it. You've just been missing it your whole life." This book is about resting in God - depending on Him. I hope you are depending on Him and resting in Him - our Lord and King - our Savior - Jesus Christ. Have a great day today and I'll see you on Sunday! Pastor Ron |
